Most people assume the only way you can save money it through coupons for the grocery store or a percentage off a purchase at a retail store. That is far from the truth. Hotel prices can vary depending upon the number of people staying in the room, number of beds, location of the room, amenities and a number of other factors that go into determining the price of the room. The price of the hotel room can also vary depending upon what time of day you called, the holiday season you are traveling during and even who you talk to on the phone. The ever changing price of a hotel room allows travelers to bargain and shop around for the best price.

Most travelers will look at a few travel sites to determine what is a proper price to pay for a hotel room. Many of those that do visit these sites will save on the hassle of calling around and just pick the lowest priced quote. However, there are other ways to get a hotel quote that just might save you money.

One of the little known ways to save money is to call the hotel directly and ask to speak to a manager. Sometimes the manager can give the traveler a special discount or a reduced rate on the more expensive rooms. This might not always happen but it is worth it to try. If you are traveling for a special occasion such as an anniversary or honeymoon, play up that factor to the manager. Deals are much more likely to be given for special occasions then leisurely travel.

Think about your day for a moment? How many hours did you work? How much sleep did you get? The average person is known to work 8 or more hours. They also receive less then 7 hours of sleep and pack into their daily schedule work, social lives and family life. All these demands and a lack of sleep can stress a person out. While there are many relaxation exercises, rituals and other activities that can be done to relieve stress; there is a little known stress reliever called travel.

When a person mentions traveling most people imagine stress. In actuality, traveling can be for many people a form of relaxation. Sure, the planning and transportation can be a bit stressful but once you reach that destination it can be a stress free environment.

No matter the location or destination, by making travel plans it allows a person to have a designated time or relaxation and peace. Traveling allows people to be removed from their daily stressful lives and put into a situation that is relaxing, fun and care-free. In fact, some studies have shown that by taking one vacation a year it can dramatically reduce the amount of stress the body is under. With less stress, productivity at work and other areas of daily living increases and becomes more efficient.

If you are unable to get away for a long distance trip, a simple stay at a hotel for a day or two will be just as effective. The hotel trip will allow you to remove yourself from a stressful situation and relax for a day or two. Just remember to leave all work related materials at home!

Next time you’re feeling stressed, think back to the last time you’ve had a vacation. If it’s been a while consider getting away with a mini vacation or short hotel stay. You’ll feel refreshed, relaxed and stress-free when you get back!

When it comes to choosing careers and which profession you choose to pursue there is usually a trend. Sometimes the popular choice is nursing or game designing or IT technology. While there will always been jobs and places for people that choose to go into these types of careers, sometimes other career choices might have a bit more stability and demand when it comes to hiring employees. One of those type of fields that will always need employees is that of the field of hospitality and travel.

For millions of years humans have had a desire to travel. They want to explore, experience and see other areas and cultures that are completely different from the lives that they are living. Even during tough times, people may not travel as far as they normally did but they will travel to local areas and locations.

As long as there is a demand for traveling and exploring other cultures and areas; there will always be a demand for the hospitality and travel field. Traveling requires some form of transportation from rental cars to airplane tickets. Other requirements that are needed when it comes to travel include places to eat, as eating is a great way to experience the local culture and a place to stay such as a hotel or motel. Hotels will always be an in demand career, as people travel from place to place and need a place to rest and relax while they are experiencing new place.

Going back through history there has always been a need for hotel like places. Back then they were known mostly as inns and served as meeting places for local travelers to gather and spend their time in a new village. In more modern times they are known as hotels or motels, but the idea of the type of lodging and stay is the same.

Times may have changed and the name of lodging might have shifted; there will always bee a common need for places to stay the night when traveling. The more demand for these places the more career choices there are.

                They say that at the moment of your death, your whole life flashes before your eyes. If this is true, then what do you want to see in your final moments? A lifetime spent in the same place, surrounded by the same people, but not enjoying the far off places you’ve always imagined? It is highly unlikely that most people would like to know that they spent their entire lifetime in the same monotonous way without the freedom to explore and experience new and exciting places. 

            The world is a wonderful place, filled with amazing people with rich and diverse histories and traditions. There are a great many who will argue that the world has been discovered. They will say that the age of explorers has passed, but they are only partially right. The world has been discovered– just not by you! We live in an age where you can see the Northern Lights in the Arctic Circle of Northern Norway, or the Taj Mahal in India from the comfort of your living room on your television set. Is it really the same thing though? I guarantee you, it is not!

            To experience a new situation, to see a new place and to submerge yourself in a new culture, is to unite yourself with the life that pulses through this world. In the words of the great philosopher St. Augustine of Hippo: “The World is a book and those who do not travel read only a page”.

              A well-travelled person can become a person of rich culture. Exposing oneself to foreign societies and environments is also a great learning experience. Like a piece of clay, the traveler is shaped by his travels, only to emerge as a work of art. Imagine being able to experience a number of locations from around the world without ever leaving home. It might sound impossible but it really is achievable. How can this be done, many people ask. Through a common hobby known as armchair traveling, would be travelers are able to get out and experience the a number of locations without having to leave their homes.

As media and the Internet allow travelers to become more and more connected; people are able to experience other locations that they would not normally be able to experience first hand. There are multiple websites, DVDs, Youtube videos and travel channel shows that are dedicated to covering a large amount of travel areas. These media outlets allow a traveler to be able to see the various culture, experience some of the wonderful sights and essentially travel without leaving home.

Armchair traveling has picked up in popularity for a number of reasons. The first of which is mainly financial. It costs a lot of money to travel to some of these locations. There is the airfare cost, hotels to stay at and restaurants to eat at. All of these essential travel elements add up to cost the traveler a lot. On the flip side; armchair traveling costs very little and can allow the travelers to be able to experience similar situations. Armchair traveling does not require multiple hotel stays, transportation costs and dining bills. All that is needed is an internet connection and access to cable channels or library resources.

Another major reason armchair traveling has become so popular is because travelers want to see and experience everything. For the majority of travelers they will not be able to visit every location and area all around the world. Armchair traveling allows them to pick some locations to visit in person and others to experience through these media outlets.

While the experience might not be the same as regular traveling; armchair traveling allows travelers to experience some of the world’s best sights that otherwise would have been skipped completely.
