Travel Tips for Single Women

OK, single ladies. You’re eager to hit the road, but before you do, check out these tips that will help ensure your vacation is just as safe as it is fun!

1. Learn the customs of the place you plan to visit. If you’re visiting a country or region that is more conservative, respect that and don’t dress provocatively.

2. If a man asks you if this is your first time visiting your destination, tell him that you visit frequently and continue on your way. This way you do not seem naive or vulnerable.

3. If you are traveling solo, ask the desk clerk to write down the name of your hotel room number instead of saying it out loud.

4. Solo female travelers should make copies of their identification and itinerary and be sure to leave it with a family member or friend.

5. US citizens should register with the State Department if they are traveling abroad. You can provide them with names and phone numbers of emergency contacts back home.

6. You may love to show off that nice, new handbag, but carrying a purse can attract thieves. Don’t be afraid to tuck money in your bra and if you insist on carrying a purse, wear it with the strap diagonally over your body instead of just on one shoulder so that it can’t be easily snatched.

7. If you find yourself the center of unwanted attention or pestering — do not hesitate to go into the nearest hotel, shop or restaurant and let an employee know.

8. At your hotel, always use the deadbolt, don’t open the door to strangers and always use the main entrance to the hotel when coming or going.

Most importantly, trust your instincts!

A Way To Get a Secret Deal on Your Hotel Stay

Everyone loves to save money. There is a simple feeling of accomplishment when you present that coupon or receive that deal. Most people assume the only way you can save money it through coupons for the grocery store or a percentage off a purchase at a retail store. That is far from the truth. Vacation planning is another great area to save money on. Particularly the price you pay for a hotel stay.

Hotel prices can vary depending upon the number of people staying in the room, number of beds, location of the room, amenities and a number of other factors that go into determining the price of the room. The price of the hotel room can also vary depending upon what time of day you called, the holiday season you are traveling during and even who you talk to on the phone. The ever changing price of a hotel room allows travelers to bargain and shop around for the best price.

Most travelers will look at a few travel sites to determine what is a proper price to pay for a hotel room. Many of those that do visit these sites will save on the hassle of calling around and just pick the lowest priced quote. However, there are other ways to get a hotel quote that just might save you money.

One of the little known ways to save money is to call the hotel directly and ask to speak to a manager. Sometimes the manager can give the traveler a special discount or a reduced rate on the more expensive rooms. This might not always happen but it is worth it to try. If you are traveling for a special occasion such as an anniversary or honeymoon, play up that factor to the manager. Deals are much more likely to be given for special occasions then leisurely travel.

If you don’t feel like staying at a hotel you can always try a vacation rental. Taking a break from everyday duties is what we strive for. Go away today on a getaway by finding the finest vacation rentals closest to your favorite place.

Next time you are traveling and looking for a deal, remember to look beyond the internet and try picking up the phone. Sometimes the best deals might just be waiting on the other end of the phone!
